You can't go wrong with a Hobby Wing XR10 Stock Spec or Pro. As far as motors, the HW motors are a solid choice. The Trinity Slot Machine is also a good performer.

For transmitters, I strongly suggest either Sanwa or Futaba. Something like the Sanwa MT-R or the Futaba 4PM would be a decent choice. The Sanwa MT-5 is a great choice as well - it has almost the same programming features as the M17 but doesn't have as many ergonomic adjustments. If you can live with that, you basically have an M17 at a discount price!
