I have run the unbelted Gravity premounts USGT tires for a few seasons, and I think they work quite well, however, I would never have run unbelted balloons conference racing my GTI, would have been too unpredictable, I even ran 2 rear swaybars to keep the rear down. Overall the car on asphalt needs to be softer, eg softer suspension, lighter diff oils and softer. In the case of these particular tyres.. it’s pretty much settled that the unbelted are better for asphalt.
As for MikeR, if he recommends that you race a body inside out on asphalt, I’d take his word.. he’s the genius behind Exotek racing and runs calraceway, which is the last remaining permanent asphalt track in Southern California
