Default Tires, tires, tires

As stated many times before, tires are the single most significant change you can make to a car. I remember going from K20R rears to the Marka V1R10 a while back at the suggestion of one of the fast guys from Italy, and what a huge difference it made in handling and my ability to get through the course more quickly. This month, thanks to some discussion between Poor_Boy and chjosi, I decided to try the PN KS Medium fronts. Up until this point I almost exclusively ran K30R with treads trued off or K30LH fronts. I had ordered KS mediums and firms a year ago and tried the firms first. They gave so much more steering compared to the K30s my cars traction rolled and were impossible to drive, so I never tried the mediums, thinking they'd be worse. I was wrong. Still plenty of steering with the mediums and an increased chance of traction rolling compared to K30s, but I could get through the course about 10-20 seconds faster than on the K30s, and with a little help from Poor_Boy to get them working on my stock car, I got a pretty good time in this morning and could probably do a 225 second run if I had a little more time. Now before you run out and buy PN mediums, they didn't work well on all my cars, and on my stock car I had to glue the sidewall and outer edge of the tire to keep the car from traction rolling, and I still have to be very smooth with throttle and steering to avoid a roll over. I had dozens and dozens of great starts when I was on a 223, 224 or 225 pace and got 20, 30, 40 or 50 laps in before flipping over. It was so frustrating, but the car turned so much better with the PN KS mediums and the lap times were so much better that I kept after it and have some pretty good times this month. I think I may need some setup changes if I keep running the KS mediums, but that will be for March.
