If you smack something head on at full tilt with a mod car... nothing will stand up to the pressure off that.. but for minor bumps and for general wear and tear shimming can make a difference. My car hasnt needed it uet.. my brothers car needs it and we both run similar speed and not too much stripping.. the fat gears and the carbon plate and the long shaft do wonders as well.
