Default Mixing modern and vintage electronics?

I’m building a Tamiya re-release lunch box and I’m planning on using an older 75mhz Futaba magnum jr radio and receiver. Not sure yet of what esc and motor combo I want to use. My questions are, if I use the Tamiya esc (included with the lunch box) with a brushed motor, will I need to use caps on the motor? (I would think so, unless the newer esc has some kind of cap built in). Or If I decide to go brushless, will I get any interference with the old receiver? I’m not trying to set speed records, I just wanted the vintage look and to use my vintage transmitter, but with something better than a regular mabuchi motor.
