True. It's more about long term choice. If you get HW and stay there, everything is compatible with the one programmer.
I don't feel like your lose anything with HW compared to other brands. We run mostly HW, a mix of justock, stock spec, and pro ESCs. I have 1 pro-performance which I like, but it's nice having a single programmer for all the HW stuff.
