What does ideal mean? I know that I run around 90% total dual rate on purple stripe tires on our super tight black carpet track in 17.5. I tend to just dial it up if it keeps adding steering right up to where it wants to hook, then I turn it down a bit and leave it there. Some folks run way less, and then again, they're running way better tires because for some reason we haven't gone to a spec tire in 17.5, lol.

I understand the concept. I raced 1:12 for the first time in 10 years a month ago and with a spool. I did the circles and it seemed to work for me making sure it was steering equally left and right. I can see what you mean in that it may not be exact, but gets ya close enough. I guess the spool makes weight distribution even more critical so it will steer evenly.

So what method is being used to make sure the car steers equally when using a spool?
