Many years ago we started running Paved Ovals, bicycle velodromes would allow for racing by rc cars. We were running a .12 nitro motor on a pan car chassis, one of the slowest motors (dynamite pull start). These were easily as fast as the modified electric motored cars. At that time we were dealing with brushed motors and nicads and the nimh just coming out. They would not allow any faster except for "insane speed run vehicles" I think we were seeing 140mph. They wouldn't allow the more powerfull nitro motors for insurance purposes. But we were tuning 9 sec laps (70+). Biggest problem with these are the tires called caps blowing out. But we are talking driving as well as high speed.
