I'm kind of glad this topic got brought back to the surface. Honestly ever since I got into this hobby I've been curious about what I could accomplish in the top speed aspect. I remember seeing videos years ago of guys hitting 100mph but they all used big blocks. I always wanted to see if I could hit 100mph with a small block. I don't know if there are any "official" records out there or not. But it's honestly just a personal goal for me at this point.
This is my little pet project. An HPI Racer 2, OS 18TZ, and a ton of hours designing and 3D printing parts. My best speed so far is 92mph (although I don't have any video so I don't expect anyone to believe me.)
My math told me 101mph as a theoretical top speed, I knew that there would be some aerodynamic loses, so hitting 92mph was better than I thought I would hit. I have a bunch of pulleys and belts to swap out in 2 tooth increments until I get to 100mph, and who knows maybe even beyond.
