I got my new shims and things felt better. Went out to try and start breaking in my engine. Instantly ate a starter box wheel lol. Guess the engine heater just wasnt able to get enough heat into it to reduce the pinch.
New engines have a lot of mechanical pinch. Back the glow plug out a turn or two (so that it is loose) when you initially start the engine on the box. This will reduce compression a bit and making the engine less likely to lock up at TDC. Once the engine starts and is running just remove the glow igniter and tighten the glow plug.
