I ran this car a few years ago....I don't think the above description of how to deal with the pivot is correct.

Here's a link to the CK25 instructions....I got them online. Unless there's a newer version somewhere, I don't think you are supposed to run the car with the pivot ball lock nuts loose. Leaving them loose at first is just part of the assembly process...to ensure the 'football' ends up in the correct location before you tighten them.
My experience is that the pivot ball binds because it moved on the chassis.....typically from a crash. Any time you have a big crash, you should check the pivot...if it's bound, repeat the assembly procedure from the manual (loosen nuts....chassis on flat board....tighten nuts....etc).
