What are most people using to cut their foam tires? I am thinking about getting in to 1/12 scale, but the foam tire thing is daunting to me. The only tire truers that I have seen are the CRC for around $300 or the Hudy for $600! That seems nuts! Does everyone that runs 1/12 have one of these? Is it just a cost of being in the class?

Tire truer is the only way to go. Usually, your club will have one or most racers that have one will let you borrow theirs. The price seems daunting but keep a eye out for other brands. I picked up a OFNA manual truer for $120. Deals pop up every here and there!/
