Overheating happens when the car is over geared, with respect to motor.

Generally speaking, you would gear the following motors as follows:

fdr = final drive ratio

17.5 around 3.8-4.0 fdr
13.5 around 4.5
10.5 around 5.0
8.5 around 6.0
4.5 around 7.0

final drive ratio is spur gear divided by pinion gear x internal ratio..

so a TT02 has an internal ratio of 2.6, so if you run a 86 spur and 25 pinion, you’re looking at

86/25 = 3.44; x 2.6, 8.944.. so you could run a very hot motor with this gearing and it would not over heat.

as a precaution it is recommended that you check the temp regardless after every run.

Now I personally don’t recommend any motor faster than a 13.5 in the TT02.
