The custom pin-retention rings look nice but are ultimately unnecessary. Degrease the CVD components (assuming they were lubricated in the first place), then lock the set-screw in place with a drop of Red Loctite. Wait a day before re-oiling it. It will never come apart again, unless you heat the CVD with a lighter to melt the Loctite. This procedure works great on the CVDs on my HPI Bullet, which has the same size CVD joints but they are much more highly-stressed by driving monster truck tires. I've never had one come apart by accident, but I've always been able to disassemble them to replace broken drive pins when necessary.
