Actually, i'm not so sure... you could technically mount the shock off the C-hub.
It would be in a similar position from the centerline as at the moment, but als be able to be closer to the driveshat.
Your limiting factor would be the arm itself, as mentioned, clearance on the wheels on lock being the problem.
You might possibly be able to do it with 24mm wide rims... but 26 or larger, I would doubt it.
