A ball diff would be a good part to have if you have the budget, but it’s not essential. I run the stock gear diff in several cars and it does just fine.

The 102mm WB cars can be competitive on the Mini-96 because they are easier to drive consistently. So a newer driver may be better off with a 102mm car. Check out my posts #673 and 674 to see how some of my 102mm cars compared to 94 and 98mm.
