Dumb question: It appears from pictures people are running ball diffs on most cars besides box stock. I assume it performs better on such a tight track as the Mini96. If I buy one will I have better cornering and more fun in your folks opinion.
2nd Dumb question: It appears to me that I am one of the only people running a 102 wheel base. It would make sense to me that on a tight track to run a shorter wheel base. What are your folks recommendations and experience?
Thank you for the help and advice in advance
Thanks for the feedback, I have put the 4100 as a legal motor in both Stock and Stock 86 classes.
On the Diff, a ball diff gives you some tuning ability but when I first switched over I was noticeably slower with a ball diff. One thing that helps a lot on the gear diff is opening it op and putting a little bit of grease inside, I just used some white lithium that I had in the garage. Basically it slows down the diff action making it a bit more "limited slip". I ended up going to ball diffs so I could run 64p gears which are quieter and more efficient.
I run a LM car in Super Stock and I do not think the wheel base is a disadvantage really. I can navigate the turns as easily on my LM chassis as I can on my 94mm Stock Car. I love running my LM car, it is fast and stable. I also love the old Group C cars and think they look awesome on track.
Cheers,
Jim
