If they aren't tight enough, it seems like the diff leaks much faster. I've tried the new "green" seals which seem to work a bit better but they still leak. How do i fix this? what am i doing wrong?
Had the exact problem on my first attempt.
Second attempt I applied way more generously the Associated green slime on the parts around the drive cup especially the oring and then I used gasket sealant (
https://www.permatex.com/products/ad...esive-sealant/) on the connecting parts of the center mesh area applied very finely with a tooth pick. I tightened the screws firmly and never leaked again and it was about 4 months running leak free almost weekly.
One mistake I did make was I did finally stripped the inner gears about a month ago and when I took the diff apart the oil inside was an unrecognizable brownish/grew goo. I think I didn't let the sealant cure before I started working in the diff which may have caused the sealant and diff oil to mix. It didn't seem to affect performance though.
Hope that helps,
Ivan
