If it is a matter of data usage, that is a couple bytes per transponder, really, 10 transponders use less data then loading in a half of a low resolution picture in a google search. In the USA most cell phone companies only allow you to tether 5 or 10 devices at a time. In regards to reception; In real areas it can be rough. Outside should be fine but indoors it can be very bad. My local track is inside a mall and cell coverage is practically non existent.
