I just traveled to Omaha last week and went to the Hobbyplex with my b6 and ran carpet. I took it in a bookbag and this is the fourth time I did it. I only remove the wing and wheels but that would depend on your bag size. I only brought pliers, nut driver for the wheels and a cheap universal bike tool. I figure I would get by with that until more racers show up and if TSA gets a bug and wants my tools they can have them. I brought two batteries. When I go through security I take the buggy and remote out and put it in a separate tray - great conversation starter.

As a side-note I just ordered some of these Makita boxes. They fit my b6 even with the wheels on, yet they measure small enough that you could carry it on(and it's light). I think next time I will use it. Heck for even storing cars at home it is a good alternative.
