I have a old crock pot for this purpose. I leave it on medium heat, and use a hanger to fish it out. Depends on how caked your pipe is. I will need to find some pics if I have any. I think I left it in for maybe 6 hours, after that I wipe it down and let it cool. Works with headers too, they just dont get as clean as a pipe would.
