...one thing I noticed or learned is that you want to let the joint your making stay as still as possible until it hardens (usually just 2-4sec's). If you have any movement in your solder connection tiny cracks may be present/develop as it is hardening. So I try to make my solder while holding in my breath, then blow out on the solder a bit to help it harden quicker.
