I got some good laps in on both my Box Stock and Stock cars last night and this morning and posted some new times in each.
My Box Stock car is running great though I am still a bit concerned about the motor temps but so far they have not seemed to have affected the performance of the motor. Both the car and I were feeling pretty good last night so I went for a really fast run, I cleaned and lubed the motor and used cells that were HOC and laid down a time that was 9 seconds better than my previous time which I though was pretty decent. With the limited power it is really important to hit your marks because you just don't have the power to make up any time.
I had a hard time with my Stock car last night, being a rear motor chassis you have to be so good about getting out of the throttle if you want to turn. We also had the AC on last night and you can feel the difference in traction when it is on. Last night I changed from 1* offset fronts to 0* in the hopes to get more turn in and it helped a bit but I was just not consistent and ended up in the armco a lot. This morning was a different story and I felt really good and put down a time that is a full 12 seconds faster then the previous time I had posted and just a couple tenths off my Pro-Stock time, the car was on fire banging off 6 consecutive laps of 4.91s and only had a couple errors during the stint. It really is amazing how important it is to stay on your marks.....as soon as I got lazy and started chasing lap times I started drifting further away from my marks and laps times went up, as soon as I slowed down and concentrated on hitting my marks the time would drop.
Cheers,
Jim
