Hello All,
I got in a lot of laps last night with my Pro-Stock car. As I mentioned I has having some major issued getting my Pro-Sock car (102mm, 787 body) to make fast consistent laps, the car felt like it did not want to turn and then the rear felt very loose, it was basically all over the road. I think a lot of these issues stemmed from the new found power from the new cells and me just over driving the car. Once I just slowed down the car got better but was still not great and I was still battling a very loose rear end. The PN KS Soft rears were pretty worn so I was wondering if it was the tires so swapped them out and I am not sure if I saw an improvement, maybe a tiny bit. I tried a couple different T-plates and ended up going back to the what I started with and then I swapped out the top dampener spring going from blue to green and that helped a bit. I ran another bunch of laps and the car was feeling better but still felt off in directional stability so I swapped out the tie bar from a +4 to a +6 and that helped and the car was more consistent. I did a couple more runs and the car was OK but now I had more understeer then I like so I went back to the blue top spring on the damper and the car was feeling pretty good. At this point I am back to my original set-up with exception of the tie bar.
After all this I proceeded to turn out a run of 385.7s which does not sound all that fast but my timer missed two laps so I was actually down into the high 37X second time with a new lap record for me of 4.58s. I really think the new batteries threw me off and make the car a lot more difficult to drive, I was just not use to having to control the amount of wheel spin that is possible coming out of turns and that was getting the better of me, once I tried slowing down I was turning consistent sub 5 second laps and stayed on my marks, at one point in a practice run I had 7 consecutive laps at 4.91s so I can be pretty consistent with the car at this point.
Cheers,
Jim
