Default Great Lakes RC- On-Road Racing Club

OK folks,

We've been active on facebook with a large group of our regulars trying to figure out how to move forward since WindyCity went down to support the racing community in NE Illinois/SE Wisconsin.

Lots of good ideas and input from lots of folks. Now its time to move from planning to racing. Since no one has objected I guess we're calling this Great Lakes RC - or GLRC if you want to abbreviate stuff.

First, lets not re-hash all the discussions on Facebook.

For those of you not on Facebook - here's where we stand (although this will be easier if you head to facebook to get the history):

1) We're going to run some asphalt races to help raise money for carpet
2) We have timing and scoring figured out. We will have timing and scoring this week.
3) For this winter's carpet season we are looking for a place to roll out the carpet every Sunday with all fees going towards a permanent place for 2020/2021 season.
4) Asphalt races will be at Pete Anwar's parking lot starting this Sunday (16th) and next Sunday (23rd). Be there at 8 AM to help with set-up. There is also Greg Teiber's event at the velodrome on the 29th.
5) This is going to be a club. We're working on a hobby-shop affiliation but there will be no on-site hobby shop. Its going to be low frills for a year or so.
6) We might have located some carpet. We will be starting a carpet fund shortly.

Lots more to come but we are getting close to having carpet racing this winter.

We need people to come out and race. This isn't going to work if we only have the 15 or 20 people at the core. We need everybody to come out a couple times a month and support the hobby.

We're not discussing classes yet. Please don't litter this thread with that yet. There will be more than enough time to argue about that.

michael
