X-ray quality bla bla bla... lol yes they use better aluminium and spring steel and charge you plenty for it. Break a part, which you will and you will see what it will cost.
TC chassis is like the motor of the month. Everyone flocks to the brand the fast guys are running.
Our top driver ran the 419x and dominated. He became curious on the MTC1 and suddenly 5 other guys picked one up. As if this week he has moved to Serpent and no one is running the MTC1 now. By next week probably 5 Serpents will show up.
Between the AE, Mugen, X-ray, BD6 and Tamiya.. honestly there is little difference. Two of them have heavy weight pro drivers to help sell their brand. Each one has its gimmick new feature that they sell as a 100% make over when it’s less than 1% change. I for one love the shock and diff detail on the mugen. But it’s not going to make me faster
The only companies that challenge the norm are Serpent and Awesomatix. If you want to speak of quality, design and originality, I would give them the awards, not the self proclaimed luxury brand of RC with its f’ugly orange anodising (sorry don’t like orange)
So if I ever depart from Tamiya.. would be for Awesomatix
As for our blue brand.. Maybe it’s my imagination but somehow since disbanding TRF.. Tamiya seems to be listening more. We have SS BB shock up date, we finally have open ended ball cups, new stabiliser rod ends, aluminium diff housing and pulley.
The XR gave us updates roll bar holders and 3mm motor mount vs 2.6mm..
What is still amiss are updated front C Hubs.. so they are still “Deaf” on that front.
