Hi guys, I have a fairly new Novarossi Truggy 28-8 motor in my Savage. Today while attempting to start it after the 2nd tank the pullstart cord wouldn't retract. I keep the pulls short to not stress the return spring so I was a bit disappointed I'm already having issues. Luckily I have a spare pull start. As soon as I removed the old pull start the cord winds itself. So I'm thinking maybe the plastic is binding somehow. Well I attached by hand the new pullstart and test pull and got the same result, the cord doesn't want to retract. I replaced the one-way shaft/adapter and nothing changed. I currently have the glow plug removed and the engine feels fine when spinning the flywheel by hand.

Any ideas what it could be?

edit:

Here's my Follow up: I removed the back plate with the one way bearing attached and was testing the pull start mechanism. When I lay the backplate up and rest the pull start I can see there's a very slight gap between the two. When I push them together as if the pull start were screwed down the pull start then struggles to retract after pulling. It seems the ring from the backplate that centers around the one-way shaft adapter is the culprit because it pushes against the internals of the pull start housing when they're seated together. It appears if I were to add a gasket between the pull start housing and backplate to prevent that center point from binding the pull start would work perfectly.

And since I wasn't paying attention to the key of the backplate do I orient the backplate where the cutout/notch is facing up? I looked at the exploded view here and it appears the flat spot on the inside of the backplate is facing up.
