at the end of the day, I still see a few current options,
1) build your own track if you have the land and invite local friends and start your own informal club (I plan to do this at some point) -both on-road and off.
2) build your own 1/24th scale track ...if you have a garage or flat backyard this is feasible and doesn't cost more than about $50, $300 if you want an RCP track (my 1/24th track rocks!)
3) support the tracks that are still up and running (I drive 100 miles each way to race at an awesome track that still gets 15-20 racers each race day). I am supporting them as much as I can.
