That tire in the photo looks A-OK. All it needs now is a fresh application of sidewall CA. A method that works good for me - using cheap medium CA that I get at Hobby Hut (a craft store) is to apply a thin layer of CA and smear it around with my finger to achieve even and thin application. Handy tip - to avoid crusty fingers I cut the fingers off of cheap disposable rubber gloves to yield 5 little finger condoms from 1 disposable glove. After CA layer 1 dries, I spin the tire on the truer and lightly sand the CAd sidewall just to smooth the rough and pebbly surface of the sidewall. Then I do a 2nd CA application just like the first (including the light sidewall sanding). This process gives me tires that look great, drive great, and sidewalls that typically stay good for the full life of the tire. One last tip - as the tires wear down (usually takes 2 or 3 runs), the foam wears faster than the stiff CAd sidewall....so a raised ridge will develop.....and that ridge will cause the car to push. Simply spin the used tire on the truer and lightly sand the stiff ridge away so that the foam is just slightly proud of the CA. Then you’ll be back in business with handling restored.
