I always make sure I can see wheel at the edge of the tyre. Foam overhanging seems like a bad thing to me especially for you guys that are trying to avoid sidewall grabbing.
I beveled my tyres for the last race and the car felt great. That was 41mm rear and 40mm front though on a hotrace wheel so not a lot of foam.
I just turned some on the truer just now, took some of the wheel plastic off. Makes sense what you said about the overhanging foam, had a look at that tire again and there was about 0.3-0.5mm of overhang.
