page 3? screw that...
last weekend was good news/bad news. wanted to race the ET really bad. first race on the local outdoor/covered track. unfortunately i was the only ET. so i had a choice. RD said i could enter 4x4SC but i knew if i did well, the guys in that class would cry and justifiably so. there was some wind that was effecting the SC guys so no doubt the ET would have a major advantage. i told the RD i wanted to run with the 1/8 buggies. he asked me several times if i was sure about that. yep. let's do it. 3 full heats of 1/8 buggies. the track was tricky all day. loose dirt, but when blown off and watered, the traction wasn't horrible. i only have two sets of tires for this rig. one is a set of clay positrons, the other is a set of panther soft raptors. the panther tires are pretty much garbage at this point. while rated as "soft", they're pretty hard. i ran those in the first qual. not good. almost like driving on glass. second qual same tires. i drove better but it was a lot of work to get the truck to go where i wanted. i ended up BQ. two bump spots to get into the show. in the B-main i put the positrons on. it was later in the night and the track had some moisture so i figured what the heck. WOW. truck was amazing. won the B-main and bumped up. ran the positirons in the A but they weren't as good as the track was pretty dusty. not sure how i finished. probably in the 6-7 range.
truck was a blast to drive when i had the right tires on. i'll probably spray the panther tires down with LW and put them in a ziploc to try and soften them. power plant wise i couldn't be happier. the reedy M3 6.5 with the 13.0mm high torque rotor with an 18T pinion is amazing. PLENTY of power everywhere and it comes off after a heat under 100 degrees.
got my leadfinger body back from my painter and it looks amazing. when i cut it and mount it i'll post up a pic or two.
