Interesting. Wouldn't the gears get much hotter with out it? I think it's time to make some metals gears and use moly lube.
From my experience, I found that after a couple of races there really wasnt that much lube left on the gears.
When applying the lube I put on just enough to put a thin coat over the all the ring gears and found this worked well.
The only teeth i ever stripped on the cream/white coloured gears were when a one way screw worked loose, fell into the gears and mashed them
.........the black ring gears however are another story
