I installed the Li-Po Battery and achieved quicker lap-times. Not much faster. But faster by a bit over 1 second.

Tamiya Evolution 5: - 36.06 (with Ni-MH)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 34.75 (with Li-Po)

I thought the Li-Po batteries would give me somewhat rocket speed...Ha Ha!
