The design only needs one side of each "slot" to work (because the centre pivot prevents fore and aft movement). So it could be designed with significant clearance to prevent a load bearing sliding situation on the bearings outer race. The bearings only need to be constrained by slots for big impacts - to take the load off of the centre pivot.
If it's designed and manufactured properly it will be incredibly smooth with no chance of seizing due to load bearing sliding surfaces. We'll see. I'm wondering if this is similar to what RSD has been testing?
