Had tlr decided to race the 4.0 and then release the X afterwards it would have a baseline to compare to, they could spin the results any way to make the X being an improvement. It surely isn't true that the factory team had zero experience with the car, that would be suicidal when you try to make a good impression to the buyers which is what matters right?
It didn't went well but comparing the announced changes to my data on the old car I can share that the new car is more neutral to drive, still a thing or two that can be improved but I'm almost sure the team behind it will take care of it.
