IMO it is great technology but not for me.
I rather learn to control the vehicle and have the human error than have a machine make the choice for me. Though, I would like to see it fall under it's own group but for all other races it should be banned.
I bought the Traxxas Slash 2wd model just recently. Once I received it I tried out the beginner's mode and realized it wasn't for me. I wanted more speed. I immediately switched to the Sport mode and got what I wanted.
I do set to beginners for my toddler and set to sport for my teen. I really love that technology!
My model doesn't have the TSM but I can see where it will come in handy. Just as the ability to change the ESC's mode from sport, race, or beginners is a great idea. Can you imagine handing a toddler a 30mph+ vehicle and yelling at him to turn it before hitting a brick wall?! OUCH! Now handing him a 15mph RC my wallet isn't screaming!
TSM has a hand in the ability to minimize those brick wall crashes costing so much money.
I believe Traxxas is going for the younger market trying to get them to bite because RC's are a dying industry. The number one fear for everyone getting into the industry is the cost of repairs!
I've been out of the industry for a couple of decades and my number one fear was the cost of repairs. After, hitting a few boulders bigger than my RC truck and not break anything my wallet isn't screaming as much!
So, I bid Traxxas a job well done on their technological advances!!!
