SPECIAL MINI NATS ANNOUNCEMENT
After some consultation with the event sponsor Hearns Hobbies, as well as some careful deliberation ourselves, we have made the decision to institute a control tire for this years Mini Nats.
This is for Mini Nats only and is not in any way related to the possible overall control tire discussion mentioned earlier this year.
The main criteria we needed to meet was ready identification of the control tire which is difficult as most mini tires look the same and are impossible to pick one from another.
As such, we have opted to go with the same tire set as specified for the 2012 Mini Nats at Dandenong – Sweep 40’s and 25’s.
No doubt there will be people unhappy with our choice and/or even the fact that there is a control tire. We are unfortunately damned if we do, and damned if don’t in this situation. It's not possible to please everybody.
However, we felt this offered the fairest possible solution for all, and particularly for people coming from other states not wanting to lug large amounts of tires to Vic.
By making the announcement some 7 months prior to the event, it gives everyone more than adequate time to work on their setups to find something that works for their cars with this tire combo.
At this stage the intent is to limit drivers to a max of 1 set (of 4) of each compound for the event.
