I have not read this entire thread but see it has unfortunately devolved as so many threads tend to do. Back to the point, even having had literally dozens and dozens of MT's over the years as personal and shop vehicles and knowing full-well the downsides to many Traxxas vehicles, this truck is still intriguing. I guess the Revo has a special place in my heart as it was my first truck when getting back into RC after a 5 year hiatus around 2000. I've had tougher trucks, faster trucks and everything in between but this truck still has a lot of appeal to it. That aside, for all the trash that is talked about Traxxas I think a good portion of that is the same trash that is talked about anyone or anything that makes it to the top, there are always haters that hate just for that reason.... Traxxas does not make race vehicles, nor do they market themselves a as a race-rig company. For all their faults, Traxxas is to thank in big part for there even being a basher scene as big as there is today, and for the abundance of other trucks on the market. Traxxas literally brought about the modern monster truck with the T-Maxx. Sure, it's a dated and poor design by today's standards, but look at the timeline of our hobby and what happened once the T-Maxx came out. Short course trucks? Traxxas invented those and is to thank for thousands of people getting into the hobby and even racing with the Slash. Of course it's not the best race truck by a long shot, but if it gets somebody into racing whereas they would not have otherwise then it's a win in my book. I am willing to bet that the Unlimited Desert Racer is going to spawn a whole new side of the hobby. While guys have been building one-off absolutely amazing desert trucks, the majority of guys do not have the time, talent or resources to build a truck like that from scratch. Watch and see how many other guys come out with trucks to compete with them and how big the desert truck scene is going to get, I can't wait to see the aftermarket grow for these things. It's often much harder to be the first one out with something new, but time and time again Traxxas has proven that they have a keen sense of what the market wants. If people did not want what they were building, they would not sell as much as they do. We obviously spend a lot of our lives around RC cars here at the shop and the hate for Traxxas never ceases to amaze me, I've been into RC for decades and have seen the influence Traxxas has had and they really have been fantastic for the hobby. We have not had a new Traxxas vehicle in the shop for years, but I can tell you that we also have the UDR on order and may pick up a new Revo as well to see what we can do with the electronics in both of them.
