If you just tape it down I don't think it really has much effect other than meeting the minimum weight. If you use a weight that screws into the holes in the chassis, you can use the weight to help fine-tune flex. Hope that helps.
To help prevent 'tuning' flex with the weight I have a couple of 0.5mm shims between it and the chassis. They're the 5mm outer diameter shims to minimize it's effect.
