What they are referring to is that the diff cannot merely move straight up or down. It will only be meshed perfectly at one location. Above or below that the diff has to move slightly forward as well to maintain proper gear mesh as it has to move along an arc from the center of the idler. Do the inserts have this feature built in?
I know what they are referring to but if you place the idler gear in the center of the diff height range and then go 1.5mm up or down from there, the gear mesh changes by 0.05mm. Holding calipers up to the light at 0.05mm will show this is not an issue.
