They come with a metal shield on one side which I leave exposed on the hubs, the other side has a rubber shield that I permanently remove to significantly reduce friction. I also flush the stock grease with brake cleaner and then lube the bearings with dry teflon bike chain lube:

I also use the same product to lube all my CVD's and out drives, I've got a set of original out drives on my SCT410.1 that are 4+ years old and still going.
These ceramic bearings require more frequent maintenance, I will clean and lube my bearings once every 2-3 race days.

I was wondering the same because I was looking at Lutz setup and he used 1.7 in both front and rear. I was scratching my head thinking because tekno swaybar kit doesn't have a 1.7 front.
I believe Matt said it was a prototype bar, I've been running 1.4 on the front and that's been doing well for my 13.5 powered car without having any traction roll issues.
