Is this an older Monster motor or the newer Monster Max (not to be confused with the older Monster Maxzilla,which is the old stator with the 12.5mm torque rotor)? If it's the older Monster (does not say "MAX" on the back) then yes it will be a little doggy compared to the current crop of motors. If it's a Monster Max then it should be on par with all of the newest motors.
