2 ports next to each other are devided by a "bridge", remove the bridge and they will become one.

With 7 port engines the ports close to the exhaust are very small:



If you take out the bridge that is deviding the port next to it it will be one large port. Do it on both sides and 7 ports are now 5 ports.
