That's really interesting about the astro at Thornhill. Here at Larry's the astro is more like the other side of the velcro (the hard hook side). In fact, it is very similar to a 3m Scotchbrite pad. It will eat a set of yellow compound mini Darts in one heat. I run blue compound in the rear and even then they are only good for about 2 race days max.

Oh, that's a cool track! The plastic is like the hooks but the 'pattern' is like the loops (is, it's not like blades of grass) I'd hate to do a sliding fall on it, it would remove skin!My yellow darts didn't last too long, but the car got better as the back end came around in turns easier. Love this car.
