I raced my TC3 at the 2017 Southern Nationals in VTA. I mainly went to have fun (whch I did) and really didn't put a lot of effort into my setup or driving. Ended up finishing 5th in the B-main (got as high as 3rd in the main). My car weighed 1540 grams, so it was a bit on the heavy side. I'm confident that with a bit more work on setup and more time racing on black carpet, I could have made the A-main.
Based on over-all qualifying times, I was part of a group of about 8 racers that all "could have been" in the a-main if the racing wasn't so close. I'm sure each racer has an excuse why they didn't make the A-main, but mine isn't because the TC3 is too old to be competitive. The car handled fine, was good down the straights, and better than some through the twisty bits.
My TC3 is competitive because i accept what it is and just try to drive the wheels off of it.
I just watched the video of the B-main for the first time today. I started 9th, worked my way up to 5th on the 1st lap, got taken out on the 2nd lap and fell back to 9th, worked my way back up to 5th in a few laps, then 4th, then 3rd. Made a minor mistake and gave up 3rd, then another mistake and gave up 4th to fall back to fifth. Was chasing down 4th towards the end of the race but made too many little mistakes and got caught at the line on the buzzer to finish 5th.
Overall a decent race considering were I started in the field.
Here is a link to the video of the race. My car looks like a white car (even though it was white/green).
