talking to veteran racers, appears ROAR had a opportunity, but never acted to put a leash on spec motors in the transition years to brushless, and lost control of a time when stock motors were cheaper than open brushed motors, but there was a quality difference like bearings etc. i can see why a spec brushless motor is the same price as a open motor these days, but spec motors being allowed to go to $150, exceed cost of open motors, and then not being able to prove it's over the limit? something really wrong there. i see alot of motors pimped to 149.99, some still at 174.99, not sure if a coupon discount would make them legal? plus hobbyshops may not be able to match a 149.99 price? some motors i think you can exceed the 149.99 price with all the options if done direct from company. i hear racers talking of 1-2% motors that are not officially advertised that blow those away in price...RC urban legend?

curious what is the case for those who bought the $150+ motors before the 1 Oct ruling?
