I think that is because it changes the angle at which the weight of the chassis pushes back against the pod during acceleration/turning relative to its center of gravity more so than actual rear steer angle generated. Think of it like anti-squat or pro-squat.

This diagram is not the suspension arrangement we have on a link-style 1/12 scale car. From the side view, the anti-squat force is generated by the angle from tire contact patch to the center pivot ball, not the front pivots of the links.
