when I got my sts .28 I started it for the first time, at factory settings,

ls = 4.5 turns out

Hs 3 turns out

and it raced like your did, I just closed the throttle more with the idle screw, to almost closed. like maybe a red Pube hair? and it idled perfect! Just my 2 cents!
