I ended up going with the the LiPo - if only I could solder properly, it'll fail sooner or later (and the transmitter-side wires are so flimsy to begin with). My battery size is 103x13x35mm, only needed to cut maybe half a centimeter on one side of the battery 'chamber' due to battery width, overall very easy in that regard.
