Last I had 2 of the new JP engines but they had a very tight piston even this break-in process could go through.

I have one tip. The external power supply is for the stepper motor, mount a current meter in one of the power lines to meassure the needed power. The current will turn lower during the process so you can determ the tigthness and the moment of breaked in.
I have done several Picco onroad and off road engines on my EBIS, and the results have been excellent.
